To help us to achieve our aims we need two exceptional leaders to join our new Executive Team.
A little bit about us
Somer is based in both Bath and Bristol and provides a range of housing and support services across the West of England sub-region Bath and NE Somerset, Bristol, South Gloucestershire, North Somerset.
With 11,500 homes in management, we are a large local housing provider employing nearly 400 people. Uniquely, we have a large number of homes in a World Heritage site and we operate in an area rich in need and opportunity.
We have grown organically and through merger and remain ambitious to grow further.
Recently, we agreed to participate in the Government’s new affordable housing program.
Changes to Governance and Executive
Following a governance review in 2010 we recently consolidated our Board structure, reducing the numbers of nonexecutives members from 52 to 13 and the number of board meetings from 28 to 12 each year.
This consolidated, streamlined and more flexible structure will enable us to reduce costs, increase the speed and quality of decision making and contribute to us improving services and our financial strength.
It is with this new governance model in place that we now turn to establishing a complimentary leadership team and strategic plan.
So, in parallel with this recruitment, we will soon start to devise our new five year strategic plan, ensuring that we derive greater synergy from the Group’s operating divisions and respond robustly to the profound changes in our economic and social environment.
In joining us at this new phase for Somer, you will be arriving at a critical time, will help to shape our future and strategic response to the many challenges and opportunities which lie ahead.
What you will need
We are looking for two Executive Directors that will first and foremost help build upon, and continue to drive, our passion and enthusiasm for customer services.
However, it will not be enough to be good at your job; your behaviours, your values, your personal leadership style and your ability to inspire and lead others will be critical as well.
Since these roles will not be limited by operational boundaries, we need strategic executives, who understand, can build and work within a high performing team, helping shape our culture, values, external reputation and brand.
You may (or may not) have a background in housing - but you will certainly be able to demonstrate that you understand our passion for service and are able to turn your considerable business acumen into innovative business offers which deliver tangible and enduring social and financial benefit.
We will demand a lot from the successful candidates and offer a lot in return. You will enjoy excellent support and personal rewards and will work with a great team of people.
